About the setting

Space and Environment

Our registration area and snack room are based in the Kitchen of the KS1 block which is next to the school field. We also have access to the Studio in the KS1 block, the main school hall as well as both the infant and junior playgrounds. We are also able to use the ICT suite and Eco-Area on certain afternoons.

Provision

Our aim at Wraysbury After School Club is to challenge the engineering focussed minds we care for.  In addition to the many construction-based activities we provide for children to choose from, the spacious and varied outdoor environments ensure the children are able to engage in plenty of active play. Although our play curriculum emphasises the natural environment and engineering-based activities, we also include messy/sensory play, ICT time and creative areas. To promote the natural curiosity of the children’s minds, Wraysbury After School Club employs a variety of tactics such as a question of the day, feeling’s board and a daily competition. Additionally, to promote teamwork within the club and stay within our Harry Potter theme, each child is given a Sorting Quiz and put into a House at the beginning of the year. As we understand the value of family time, we encourage and work with children to get reading and homework completed during After School Club.

Daily routine

The club opens for business at 3:00pm. Children from Reception and KS1 are collected from their classrooms by a member of our staff when the first school bell rings. Children from KS2 and KS3 are released by their teachers when the second bell rings and walk down to our area on their own. To ensure the children arrive safely, a playworker will stand at the entrance of our area while the school’s exit gates are manned by school staff. The club closes at 6pm with parents able to collect at any point prior to this time.

Wraysbury After School Club Daily Routine
3:05pm Reception and KS1 children are collected by a playworker.
3:10pm Upon arrival, children answer question of the day and complete feelings board.
3:15pm Reception and KS1 children have ‘Meet and Greet’ while Junior children arrive. The juniors then join the ‘Meet and Greet’.
3:30pm Snack is offered to all children depending on spaces. Other children then have free play inside and/or outside, dependent upon weather, until a seat for snack is available.
4:30pm Tuesday and Thursday, they will tidy up and make their way to the ICT suite. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, dependent on weather, children tidy up and may decide to go to Eco Area or the Junior Playground.
5:00pm Tidy up time if Eco Area or Junior Playground are unavailable.
5:15 to 6:00pm Group games, puzzles or board games until home time.

Parent access to the club

Parents and/or carers are authorized to park in the unmarked bays in the school car park. If the car park is unavailable, parking is available on the surrounding roads. Entrance to school grounds is through the gate at the back of the school car park.

The code to open the gate will be supplied once the registration process is complete. Parents and/or carers will then need to walk around to The Gap Club area in the KS1 building to sign their children out.

Great place for kids

Sure! Here’s a sample review for Gap Kids Club in Staines:
I recently had the pleasure of sending my twin girls to Gap Kids Club in Staines, and I just had to share my fantastic experience! The warm and welcoming atmosphere made them feel right at home.

A special shout-out to Ashley, who was absolutely the best! Her enthusiasm and passion for the kids were evident, and she went above and beyond to ensure everyone was having a great time. She engaged with the children in such a fun and nurturing way, making activities enjoyable and memorable.

The variety of programs offered is impressive, and I loved seeing how much the kids enjoyed participating in different activities. It’s clear that the staff genuinely cares about the children and their development.

I highly recommend Gap Kids Club to any parent looking for a fun and safe environment for their kids. Thank you, Ashley, for making Keeva and Eoife’s summer exciting

Jackie, Deputy Head – St George’s Weybridge

At St George’s, we are absolutely delighted with our new collaboration with The Gap Club. From initial communications, through contract and terms building and now with our Wraparound care fully underway, we have found all TGC staff to be considerate, professional, enthusiastic, and most importantly, entirely child centred. Little details like feeding in to our EYFS assessment tracking with thoughtful comments on the children’s progress, to an open willingness to adapt provision to suit both the needs of our school and parent body has made the entire process a smooth and positive one. Anecdotal feedback from our pupils in these early days are that they love the Gap Club, they are excited by the varied and interesting provision they offer and they are asking to go there more and more! Our parents have been able to book, pay for and rearrange sessions without needing to directly involve the school at all, which has been hugely supportive to us and a big advantage from an administration perspective. All in all, while only at the beginning of our relationship with TGC, our first impressions truly couldn’t be more complimentary.

Ofsted – Staines

Children thoroughly enjoy their time at this welcoming and inclusive Holiday Club. Staff foster extremely positive relationships with the children and make sure their individual needs are met very well. Staff take a genuine interest in what the children do and say and they strive to provide the best possible experiences for them. The programme of activities is carefully considered to take account of children’s likes, dislikes and interests. This means they really enjoy time spent in the club with their friends.

Gemma, St Jude’s

I just wanted to take the time to feedback on how amazing the Holiday Club at St Jude’s has been this year. It has been so nice to see our children happy, engaged, and thoroughly exhausted after a day full of fun and social interaction. They had clearly missed it more than we had realised. Thank you to all the team for the hard work and perseverance in getting the club up and running .

I just wanted to say how impressed we were with how the Holiday Club at St Jude’s was managed and run. My daughter was there for 2 days and she had a fantastic time. We could see how much thought, preparation and work had gone into making the club safe and reassuring for parents.

Many of our children attend Gap Club which offers a range of enriching activities and toys for them to play with. It is an important resource for our working parents to use and forming part of the King’s Court wrap around care provision. The staff are friendly and approachable.

Paul, Staines

Our children loved having Ellen for the days she was with them over the Summer. I have been reminded to write this feedback by the fact that they still talk about Ellen and her animal trivia! It is clear that she built up a really rapport with them. Certainly our kids loved the days they spent with Ellen.

Louise – Thorpe

My son’s have been attending Gap Club three afternoons a week since Reception. Initially I would try to leave work early so I get them a bit sooner as I was worried their day was too long. I don’t bother anymore, getting them to leave at the end of each day is a struggle because they are having so much fun. The staff are exceptional. There’s a good mix of experienced older staff but also enthusiastic and fun younger ones too. It’s amazing – I wouldn’t be without it. Thank you Gap Club!
