Role: Term Time After School Playworker 

Reports to: Setting Manager (SGW)

Locations:

  • St Georges Junior School (Weybridge) – Early Years and Childcare Provision 
  • Occasional meetings at TGC Head office based in Old Windsor (within 10-mile radius)

Term Times (Monday to Friday):

  • TGC: Term Time (TT) from 11.5 to 21.25 hours per week.
  • Variable Hours: Start time range: 2.15pm to 3.30pm. Finish time: 6.00pm to 6.30pm. Monday- Friday.
  • Additional Holiday Club Hours available in Holiday Periods

Salary: Competitive hourly rate in line with National Minimum Wage, plus staff benefits

Employment Contract:

  • Part Time with additional hours available in Holiday Clubs.

  • The Gap Club (TGC)-: term time position with additional holiday club hours.

This role offers you a huge variety of experiences to develop your skills across early years and wraparound childcare, supporting children’s development in different contexts and learning through play. You will play a pivotal role in creating consistent, high-quality learning, play and care, as well as fostering strong relationships with children, families, and staff.

Founded in 2002, The Gap Club is a premium out-of-school childcare provider for nursery (2 years upwards) and primary-aged children. Responsibilities:

TGC – Term Time:

  • Deliver the PEP framework for Early and Primary Years, adapting play pedagogy to meet children’s evolving needs in an engaging developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Support all operations, including planning, evaluation, policies and risk assessments, to ensure safety and wellbeing.
  • Supervise and safeguard children’s welfare and wellbeing, adhering to all safeguarding policies and escalation procedure
  • Assist the team in planning and implementing play programs and daily activities.
  • Supervise children during all activities including playtime, meals, and nap times (if applicable)
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe environment.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Document and share observations particularly wow moments of all children’s play progress with the team then parents. 

General:

  • Collaborate with staff to ensure effective communication, seamless transitions, play and wellbeing updates for children.
  • Engage with parents, providing regular updates on children’s development and wellbeing.
  • Support promotional activities, including open evenings and school fairs.
  • Participate in reflective practice and quality assurance initiatives to continuously improve outcomes for children
  • Commit to your personal development and training to ensure the requirements of the EYFS and childcare regulations are met. 

Skills and Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential skills/qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience in Early Years settings with a focus on play-based learning.
  • Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 and communication tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and observational skills.
  • Up to date Knowledge of EYFS and regulation frameworks.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise and deliver engaging and stretching activities for children of all ages.

Desirable:

  • Experience in independent schools
  • Working with children with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with online learning journals.
  • A clean driving license
  • Qualified in childcare or equivalent – Level 2 or Level 3.

  • Ability to build rapport with children and families quickly.
  • Proactive and reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement.
